Today you can spend some time in Cardiff, the capital city of Wales. In recent years, the city has developed itself into a truly modern and cosmopolitan place, offering the best in culture, history and sporting entertainment. Make sure you see the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff Castle, The National Museum of Wales and the beautiful tranquil Alexandra Gardens.
Castell Coch, Swansea, Gower Peninsular
You can collect your hire car in Cardiff in the morning and make your way to Castell Coch, often referred to as the fairy tale or fantasy castle due to its classical round towers and spires. From here you can drive West to the city of Swansea. Swansea, together with the Victorian seaside neighbour Mumbles make up an extremely vibrant region which also boasts the beautiful Gower Peninsular, Britain’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Pembroke & Tenby
Today you’ll take a drive along the coast to Pembroke or Tenby including visiting the beautiful Pembroke Harbour, where there are a number of boat trips available to explore the coast. This spectacular coastal region is surrounded on three sides by the sea and has more blue flag beaches than any other county in Britain.
St Davids & Cardigan Bay
Today you will drive to St Davids to visit the smallest city in the UK and its cathedral. From here you can head north into the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and then on to Cardigan Bay including many harbour villages such as New Quay where sightseeing boat trips are available. You will also see the picture postcard Aberaeron with its multi-coloured house facades. From here it’s a short drive up to Aberystwyth, a seaside resort nestled between three hills and two beaches with castle ruins.
Today you’ll head further north to the small town of Betwys-y-Coed in the heart of Snowdonia. You can explore Snowdonia – Take the Snowdon Mountain train up Snowdon, or drive to Caernarfon to see the impressive Castle. If you prefer, you can take a trip on one of Snowdonia’s Steam Railways and enjoy stunning scenery and awe-inspiring views!
Conwy & Llandudno
Today you can visit the small walled harbour town of Conwy and visit its famous Castle, a Unesco World Heritage Site. Near the castle, you’ll be able to visit the smallest house in Great Britain. Later on in the afternoon, you can go to Llandudno. Make sure you take the Llandudno Cable Car, the longest in Britain glides silently from Happy Valley to the Summit of the Great Orme revealing breathtaking views of Llandudno bay.
Brecon Beacons National Park & Cardiff
Today you’ll head south back to Cardiff. On your way, you can make a stop off at the Brecon Beacons National Park where you can enjoy some great scenery including spectacular woodland gorges which have created beautiful waterfalls and caves. Further south you could visit the impressive Caerphilly Castle before you end the day in Cardiff.
Today you will return your hire car, before making your onward journey
